As an artist whose favorite mediums are hard materials such as graphite and charcoal,  using watercolors proved to be a major challenge for me. Its loose and free-flowing nature made it impossible to control which frustrated me at first as I tried in vain to bind it to the image in my head. As I continued painting, I grew more used to how the paint behaved. I entered a flow in which the crater finally emerged. I would love to continue to practice with this challenging medium in the future.
